The elegant Langham Xintiandi made its debut in October 2010 and is still awaiting some finishing touches (an indoor pool & gym late July,  a martini bar in October) but we won't hold that against it.  The hotel is in the heart of Xintiandi where up-market stores and restaurants are housed in  historic Shikumen houses. The Langham itself occupies a landmark building., rising like a silver cigar case above its surroundings. Those who like to spend will also be pleased to know that the hotel's Grand rooms offer views over the Shikumen storefronts so you can window-shop without even leaving the luxurious comfort of the hotel. In a city renowned for running up a sharp suit to your specifications over night we love the idea of the Langham's 'Tailor Made' service with which, according to the hotel,  guests can 'tailor experiences to their needs'  with a whole array of 'bespoke arrangements'.
